Spring is a time for new beginnings and to refresh both your environment and your outlook on life. So many people take the opportunity to do so that we often describe it as “spring cleaning”.
In some cases, spring cleaning is all about cleaning, waste disposal and generally making one’s existing surroundings look as good as they can be, but for others, it is about redecoration and redesign. This means getting out the paint rollers and making a change.
Unfortunately, paint can sometimes spill, and one of the most frustrating parts of decoration is when paint spills or drips onto the carpet, as it can be very difficult to get rid of if you cannot benefit from professional Gerrards Cross carpet cleaning services.
However, a few simple steps based on the type of paint can make all the difference.
For Water-Based Paints
Most paints that we tend to use for painting walls are water-based, such as acrylic or latex paints, as they can be applied to a wide variety of surfaces and dry quickly.
However, this also means you need to work quickly to remove paint drops before they dry. Put on some latex gloves and use a putty knife or similarly dull edge to scrape off as much paint as you can before applying a solution of warm water and washing up liquid, dabbing with a white cloth to pull the stain up.
For Oil Based Paint
Heavy-duty oil paints need a bit of paint thinner to remove the stain, but test the thinner in an inconspicuous area first and start from the edges of the stain to avoid spreading it further.
This can work for both wet and dry oil paints, although the latter may need more work to break up excess paint first before you can remove paint chips without damaging the carpet fibres.
