Businesses around the country are preparing to re-open over the next few weeks, and have been preparing their premises to make sure they are as safe as possible for staff, clients and customers before doing so.

Indeed, non-essential stores, zoos, safari parks and drive-in cinemas will open their doors from Monday (June 15th), pubs, bars and restaurants are hoping to welcome punters by July 4th, and salons are also booking appointments for the beginning of next month.

However, in order to comply with safety precautions, every business needs to ensure they are as clean and hygienic as possible.

The government stated some of these measures include limiting the number of customers allowed inside at any time; placing protective coverings on large items; installing Perspex screens in front of tills; not allowing customers to try on clothes; introducing signage and floor markings to remind people to maintain a two-metre distance between each other; quarantining objects that are touched; and frequently cleaning surfaces.

Business secretary Alok Sharma stated: “Now is the time to apply these principles to even more shops to allow workers safely back into stores and welcome back shoppers.”

To ensure the safety of visitors, retailers, food establishments and salons should ensure continued good hygiene, with Business Live suggesting a focus on door handles and keyboards.

It is also important to remove any debris from the floors every day so the virus does not spread around on shoes, and make use of carpet cleaning experts from Gerrards Cross for regular deep cleans.
